You’re invited to our Prep Family Barbecue!
We hope you can come
Date: Thursday February 4, 2016
Time: 5pm to 7pm
It’s going to be great fun.
Bring ALL of your school supplies with you.
You’ll be able to unpack the supplies into your very own school tub in your classroom and put your art smock and library bag in the class baskets.
You are welcome to try our delicious sausages,
which include a vegetarian and halal option.
Children can have a chat with their teacher and play in the Prep/1 playground.
Lots of your new friends will be there too!
We can’t wait to see you at the barbecue!
A casual school tour is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. for parents who have not seen around our school.
Please bring the following items to the PREP FAMILY BBQ
- ALL booklist items.
- One ART SMOCK – named (available from the uniform shop or purchase your own). Long sleeves, elastic at wrist and neck – an adult’s old shirt is ideal.
- One LIBRARY BAG – named (available from the uniform shop or make your own). This bag enables children to take home library books to read or have read to them without the risk of them being damaged or lost.
- One HOME READING SATCHEL – named (available from uniform shop)
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL ARTICLES ARE
CLEARLY LABELLED WITH
YOUR CHILD’S NAME
CHANGE OF CLOTHING
It is advisable that a change of underwear clothing and socks be kept in your child’s school bag.
Encourage your child to eat the lunch you have prepared. When he/she comes home from school, check with him/her that they have eaten their lunch.
Please – DO NOT PACK TOO MUCH LUNCH.
Discuss which is “morning snack” to be eaten at 10.40am and which is lunch, to be eaten at lunch time.
It may help to have several practices during January with lunch boxes and drink bottles. Please make sure your child can manage by themselves and knows the difference between snack time and lunchtime. Your child will eat their lunch in the classroom.
CARRYING THEIR OWN BAG
An important part of starting school is the development of some independence by your child. You can support them in small ways like having them carry their own bag to and from school.
DONATE A BOOK
During the prep parent partnership afternoons there will be a display in the prep corridor of new books for the ‘Take Home’ reading boxes. As in past years, we are hoping that many of you will take the opportunity to donate a book(s) so that we can quickly boost our stock of new, attractive reading material for the preps to take home each day.
Parents who make a donation will have a sticker, with their child’s name written on it, placed in the front of the book(s) of their choice.
We hope that you will support the Take Home
reading program in this way.
